A Scratch Night with a Twist

The Scrap is NST's monthly Scratch and Jam night for new theatre in development. Every month we converge on The Others in Stoke Newington, where three brand-new, open-sourced script excerpts will be workshopped rapid-fire with a director and cast before a performance in the evening. We also throw in a rehearsed Scratch and some live music – just for kicks.

The Scrap brings you a madcap evening of fast-paced theatrical gems from London's indie theatre scene.
See three mint-condition new scripts – hot off the press and freshly jammed – plus a development scratch and some hot hot live music entertainment.
It's genre-bending, it's loose, it's a heck of a lot of fun. It's also a communal hub where you can meet some art-folk, chat about what you're up to, and see what's cooking in the London theatre scene.
So whether you're participating or not, don't be a stranger:
COME AND SAY HEY!

The Scrap is open to everyone, run on a quarterly submission basis.
The event has two key segments: the Scratch and the Jam.
For the Scratch, we look for submissions from ensembles wanting to share a section of a piece they've been developing independently. Pretty standard stuff – a platform to test ideas and get things up on their feet.
The Jam is a little different. We ask writers to send us a short excerpt of a text they're developing. We also take open submissions from directors and actors who want to get involved. Then we pair up a director with a text, cast the play, pull everyone together for four hours on the afternoon before the event and watch the sparks fly!
We also get some live music or comedy in to kick the night off with a bang. And you'll never guess: that's open-call as well
